Qatari Ambassador H.E Mr.Mohamed bin Ismail Al Emadi Arrives to Gaza

Qatari Ambassador Mohamed Al-Emadi arrived early Friday to Gaza.

Local sources reported that Amadi had arrived through the Beit Hanoun/Ayers barrier north of the Strip, in preparation for the disbursement of the country grant.

The Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, represented by its Chairman, Ambassador Emadi, signed in July a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations through its representative, Tor Wennesland, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.

In a statement to the country committee at that time, Ambassador Emadi stressed that the memorandum of understanding included the mechanism for the distribution of the State of Qatar's cash assistance grant to humble families in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Emadi clarified at that time that the cash assistance to the beneficiaries will be disbursed through the United Nations and its World Food Programme, where about 100,000 needy families in the governorates of the Gaza Strip will receive this aid per month, at the rate of ($100) per family in cash, to start distribution during the current month.

For four months, "Israel" has prevented the entry of Qatari funds for about 100,000 families, at $100 each, amid media talk about trying to find a new mechanism for disbursing it with the participation of the United Nations.

The Gaza Strip, which has been under an Israeli siege since 2006, suffers from difficult humanitarian and economic conditions, amid high rates of unemployment and poverty, to unprecedented proportions.
