Maldivian Parliament Unanimously Passes Resolution Banning Israeli Tourists and Products

The Maldivian Parliament has unanimously passed a resolution banning Israeli tourists from entering the country and prohibiting the import of goods manufactured in Israel.
The draft resolution was tabled by Hon. MP. Saud Hussain and approved by the Maldives Parliament. And this is the first time in history that the Maldives parliament has passed a resolution boycotting Israeli tourists and products.

The resolution serves as a condemnation of Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian Territories.

The resolution also calls for the severance of diplomatic ties with Israel and aligns the Maldives with other Arab nations and member states of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that have implemented similar restrictions.

The government's response to the resolution remains unclear, but the cabinet's economic and social councils are reviewing the parliament's request.

The resolution comes in response to Israeli forces' occupation of Palestinian lands and their recent attack on Gaza, which has been condemned internationally. Israeli forces' continued offensive in the occupied enclave has defied a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a cessation of hostilities.
