Libya's Parliament Calls for Ceasing Oil Exports to Supporters of Israel During Gaza Conflict

In the midst of ongoing airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, Libya's parliament has issued a call to halt oil exports to nations backing Israel. The parliamentary spokesman, Abdullah Belihaq, stated that if the Israeli massacres continue, the government should suspend oil and gas exports to countries supporting Israel. Additionally, the assembly, based in East Libya, has demanded that ambassadors of nations supporting Israel's "crimes" in Gaza immediately depart from Libya.

The statement issued by the assembly strongly condemns the support provided by the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy for Israel's actions in Gaza. The conflict in Gaza is described as a "genocide led by the US and the West against disarmed people under blockade."

The Israeli bombardment campaign on the Gaza Strip was ignited by a cross-border attack conducted by Hamas on Israeli territory on October 7. The conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life, with approximately 6,546 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis killed, totaling nearly 8,000 deaths.

The people of Gaza, numbering 2.3 million, are facing dire shortages of essential resources such as food, water, medicine, and fuel. Despite limited aid convoys being allowed into Gaza, the supplies provided are far from meeting the urgent needs of the population.
