A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds, headed by Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, met with the leader of the African National Freedom Party, a member of the South African Parliament, at the Parliament headquarters to discuss parliamentary efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.
Al-Ahmar expressed his deep gratitude to the Republic of South Africa, its parliament, government, people, and parties for their advanced positions on the Palestinian issue. He noted the League's appreciation for the broad parliamentary solidarity with the cause.
Al-Ahmar emphasized that the League considers South Africa an authentic partner in defending the justice of the Palestinian cause and fulfilling its legitimate and legal role in its defense.
The two parties discussed coordinating actions to support the rights of the Palestinian people, promoting awareness of the League in the Commonwealth countries, utilizing South Africa's membership in the League to support the Palestinian cause, countering the false narrative of the occupation, and working to stop the Israeli occupation's attacks.
Both parties emphasized the importance of working in cooperation with South Africa to counter Zionist expansion in the African continent.
A delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds also participated in the fifth International Forum in Solidarity with Palestine, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, under the auspices of the "Global Return Campaign to Palestine," which brings together numerous non-governmental organizations supporting Palestine from over 40 countries worldwide. The forum commemorated the tenth anniversary of Nelson Mandela's death.
In addition to the President of the League, the delegation included a member of the executive committee and a Turkish MP in the Turkish Parliament, Hasan Turan; the Director General of the League, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi; and the Head of the Public Relations Department in the League, Abdullah Al-Baltaji.
