The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds’s fifth conference is an important parliamentary initiative which comes at a critical time when the Palestinian people are facing an existential threat, Jordanian Senate Speaker Faisal Al-Fayez said on Friday.
Al-Fayez added, in his speech at the League’s conference, that the conscience of many political systems is in deep slumber despite the genocidal war committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, asking, “When will the human conscience awaken to tell Israel it is enough?”
He stressed that the international community, parliamentary institutions, as well as international and human rights organizations are required to exercise their role in stopping the genocidal war and providing relief to the Gaza Strip, calling for a more effective Arab and Islamic position to support Gaza.
On Friday, the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds launched its fifth international parliamentary conference in Istanbul under the auspices of the Turkish Parliament, titled “Freedom and Independence for Palestine.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, more than 700 parliamentarians from 80 countries, as well as official, international and Turkish figures are participating in the three-day conference.
