LP4Q Calls on Parliamentary and International Institutions to Take a Serious Stand against the Occupation's Crimes against Palestinian Democracy

Press Release
The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds Calls on Parliamentary and International Institutions to Take a Serious Stand against the Occupation's Crimes against Palestinian Democracy

Every day, the Israeli occupation's crimes become more heinous, brutal, and indifferent to international norms and decisions. It has now attacked a sovereign institution of democracy, which the global system considers a fundamental pillar of its structure. The Israeli occupation forces have stormed and vandalized the Palestinian Legislative Council and then detonated it in a barbaric act that contradicts any form of civilized values. In light of this ruthless behavior, the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds calls on international, regional, and local parliamentary institutions to take a serious stance that holds the perpetrators of this crime accountable, as it threatens the future sanctity of legislative institutions that enjoy international protection.

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds strongly condemns this heinous crime and emphasizes that the Israeli occupation forces' detonation of the Palestinian Legislative Council headquarters in Gaza, following its invasion and tampering with its contents, as well as the assassination of its interim head, Dr. Ahmed Bahar, and previously the assassination of Dr. Jameela Shanti, represents a criminal and barbaric act that targets democratic values and parliamentary immunity. This necessitates urgent action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure they receive their deserved punishment.

The League also emphasizes that the attack on the Palestinian Legislative Council in Gaza and the attempt to eliminate its members fall within the framework of the occupation's targeting of the Palestinian state entity, considering its symbolism and status in managing Palestinian public affairs. Thus, it rejects the principle of the existence of the Palestinian state.

Furthermore, the League affirms that the genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and their institutions clearly reveals its adoption of ethnic cleansing policies and the imposition of the fait accompli as the sole solution to achieve its vile objectives.

In light of this deceitful policy pursued by this ruthless entity, the League calls on international, regional, and local parliamentary institutions to take serious and genuine positions to halt the criminal behavior of this occupation towards the sovereign institutions of the Palestinian people and the genocide it mercilessly and brutally wages against them.
