The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds commends the African Union's suspension of granting observer status to the Israeli occupation

The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds commends the African Union's unanimous decision to suspend granting observer status to the Israeli occupation within the Union, during its summit held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The League affirms that the decision is consistent with the values and positions of the African Union and its principles based on the rejection of occupation and racial discrimination and support for the rights of the Palestinian people and international law, calling on all international and parliamentary organizations to take similar steps and renounce and boycott the Israeli occupation.

The League also commends the efforts of all African countries that opposed the occupation's accession to the Union, and worked to take such a decision, especially the Algerian diplomatic efforts as well as the efforts of the Republic of South Africa.
