Egyptian House of Representatives calls for an emergency session of the Arab League to discuss the events of Jerusalem

The Arab Affairs Committee of the Egyptian House of Representatives, headed by Maj. Gen. Saad Al-Gammal, called on the League of Arab States to convene an emergency session of its Council at the ministerial level to discuss the Israeli escalation measures against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian people in general.
The committee pointed out in a press statement that many of the Egyptian media reported today that the Israeli unilateral and repressive measures are part of a series of attempts to Judaize Jerusalem, obliterate the Islamic monuments and impose the fait accompli, exploiting the state of confusion and conflicts that prevail in the region.
“It is important to keep pace with the march and uprising of the Palestinian people condemning the Israeli occupation attacks, an international uprising in other forums, organizations and parliaments to ensure the immediate cessation of these practices and impose severe sanctions on the Israeli occupation.”
The Committee’s statement questioned the role of the Security Council entrusted with the maintenance of international peace and security, criticizing what he described as the “complacency and complicity of the international community vis-a-vis what is happening in Palestine”.
