Election of Palestine as a member of the Governing Body of the International Labor Organization

   The State of Palestine on Monday, represented by the Secretary General of the Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, Shaher Saad, won the membership of the Governing Council of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
   This came at the conclusion of the 106th International Labor Conference, which was held at the Conference Palace in Geneva, Switzerland, with the participation of more than 4,000 delegates, representatives of governments, labor and trade union organizations, employers and representatives of international organizations and civil society organizations around the world.
   Amal Al-Omari also won the Council’s membership of the Arab region alongside Saad, President of the Progressive Union of Moroccan Women and member of the General Secretariat of the Moroccan Labor Union.
   Saad received 89 votes from the conference, while Amri received 95 votes.
   The International Labor Organization (ILO) is an international organization working to ensure the implementation of fundamental rights at work, helping to provide jobs for both men and women, and strengthening dialogue among the various professional parties.
