The President of the Algerian Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, condemned what he described as the "cowardly reactions" of the international community regarding the genocide being inflicted on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by Mr. Saad Arous during a solidarity symposium with Gaza, Goudjil affirmed that the world is witnessing a blatant moral and legal collapse, stating, "There is regret over the positions that continue to be issued by an international community that resorts to impotence, weakness, and humiliation, and in turn, betrays its humanitarian commitments and international laws every day, losing its balance by favoring interests and applying double standards."
Goudjil also expressed his pride in the positions of Algerian parliamentarians in support of the Palestinian cause, considering their voices a true echo of justice and the rights of peoples.
He explained, "The words of parliamentarians may not be binding, but they preserve the truth from being lost amid false media narratives... Parliamentarians shed light on the facts and call things by their names."
The President of the Council of the Nation called on the parliaments of the world to use their legislative and oversight powers and to direct the tools of parliamentary diplomacy to pressure governments to take noble stances that do justice to the Palestinian people and secure their rights, foremost among them ending the Israeli occupation and restoring land and dignity.
