The head of the Turkish-Palestinian Parliamentary Friendship Group and vice president of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, MP Hasan Turan, stated that what is happening in the Gaza Strip is a genocide that no human being can remain silent about.
Turan added, during the "Parliaments Supporting Palestine Group" meeting held in Istanbul, "Innocent children and women are being killed before our eyes. No one who considers themselves human can remain silent in the face of this."
He also said that Palestine holds a special historical and cultural place in the hearts of the Turkish people, stating, "The occupation of Palestine is the occupation of land that was once governed from Istanbul. Jerusalem is Istanbul."
Turan pointed out that the group's meeting sent a message of solidarity to the people of Gaza, affirming, "We will never back down in the face of the powers that support unjust Israel."
He called on more than 150 countries that recognize the State of Palestine to take more effective and stronger stances against the Israeli occupation and to stop the war of genocide in Gaza.
