The African Parliament unanimously endorses the adoption of Palestine as an observer

The African Parliament unanimously adopted in its fourth session held on Tuesday in Midrand, South Africa, the adoption by the Palestinian National Council as an observer member.
Palestinian National Council Speaker Salim al-Za’noun stressed, In a statement issued by him on this occasion, that Africa’s decision affirms and strengthens its stand and solidarity with the Palestinian people and its steadfast rights to self-determination, return to its land and establish its independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Zanoun expressed his appreciation and thanks to the African Parliament and its President for the adoption of the Palestinian National Council as an observer member, which will strengthen relations and open new horizons for cooperation and joint coordination between the Palestinian National Council, the African Parliament and all parliaments of Africa at various levels.
The African Parliament also adopted in its plenary session yesterday a statement of solidarity with the prisoners at the initiative of members of the Tunisian delegation and signed by a large number of members of the African Parliament, which was included in the agenda of the session.
On this occasion, the Palestinian Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa Hashim Dajani praised the decision of the African Parliament, pointing out that Africa once again won for Palestine and the right of its people to freedom and independence, and sent a strong message to the occupier that Africa and its people will not abandon the principles and values of humanity and morality and their history of struggle against colonialism and their commitment to support the freedom of peoples and the right to self-determination.
He also praised the position of the African and Arab parliaments on the Jerusalem issue and their demand for the United States and the United Kingdom to abandon their intention to transfer the US Embassy to occupied Jerusalem and celebrate the centenary of the disastrous Balfour Declaration.
He stressed the importance of the joint statement issued by African Parliament Speaker Roger Dang and Arab Parliament Meshaal Salami to support the struggle of the Palestinian prisoners who continue a hunger strike that began on April 17 to now.
