Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez supports a Palestinian state

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expresses support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. During his visit to the Middle East, he stated that Spain intends to officially recognize the Palestinian state by July. Sánchez made these remarks while speaking to journalists aboard his plane en route to Jordan.

In his statement, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for discussions on Palestine's permanent membership in the United Nations to commence. Sánchez mentioned the possibility of jointly announcing the recognition of a Palestinian state with the Prime Ministers of Ireland, Malta, and Slovenia before the summer, under favorable circumstances. Subsequently, this decision would be presented to the Spanish Parliament for approval.

Sánchez also expressed confidence that numerous European Union member states would be compelled to adopt a similar stance.
