After visiting Hawara, US Special Envoy slams the widescale indiscriminate settler aggression

After visiting the town of Hawara in the north of the West Bank, which was the scene of a settlers' rampage and arson on Sunday night, US Special Representative Hady Amr expressed his deepest condolences to the family of a Palestinian killed in the attacks and condemned what he called "the unacceptable widescale, indiscriminate violence by settlers."

"We demand complete responsibility and legal punishment for those guilty for these terrible acts, as well as compensation for those who lost property or were otherwise harmed," Amr said after examining the devastation in the Palestinian village.

These developments, he added, "underscore the necessity to swiftly de-escalate tensions in words and acts," emphasizing that the US "will continue to engage with Israelis and Palestinians, as well as our regional allies, to restore calm."
