The UK condemns Israeli settlers' violence in Nablus

The British Consulate General in Jerusalem issued a statement condemning Israeli settlers' large violent attacks on Palestinians in Huwara, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, as well as the assassination of a Palestinian man.

The statement, which was posted on the Consulate General's official Facebook page in Arabic and English, called the Israeli government to punish those guilty for Sameh Aqtash's death accountable.

“Horrified by scenes of settler violence in Huwara and nearby villages yesterday, with approximately 400 Palestinians injured and tens of homes, businesses and cars torched,” the statement said. “Settlers responsible for this violence must be brought to justice.”

“The UK condemns the killing of Sameh Aqtash during the same attacks by settlers and expresses condolences to his family. Sameh was a Palestinian aid worker who risked his life to save victims of the earthquakes in Turkey. We urge the Government of Israel to hold the perpetrators of this dreadful crime to account,” the statement said.
