German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the two-state solution.
In a message to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Merkel said, “Your goal is to build a democratic, independent and economically prosperous Palestinian state, and this is the goal of the German federal government as well, and for that the peace process between Israel and Palestine must continue to make the negotiated two-state solution succeed in order to bring stability and security to all people in Palestine”.
