PLO official meets Swiss envoy to peace process, discusses political developments

Senior member of the PLO Executive Committee and Secretary-General of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front (PPSF), Ahmad Majdalani, met with the Swiss envoy to the Peace Process in the Middle East, Roland Stinger, in Ramallah where they discussed the latest political developments in light of the Israeli escalation supported by the Trump administration.
Majdalani briefed Stinger on the situation and financial siege imposed on the PA due to Israeli “piracy” of Palestinian tax revenues and blockage of the horizon of the peace process, pointing out that the Trump administration is putting all its weight and harnessing all forms of political and military support to ensure the success of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in the elections.
Majdalani stressed the need for the international community to maintain the legal base represented by the resolutions of international legitimacy and not to leave the Trump administration tampering with the Middle East arena through repeated talk about the ‘deal of the century’, which he stressed requires a serious call for an international peace conference based on the implementation of international legitimacy resolutions related to the Palestinian issue, and to save the two-state solution.
For his part, Stinger affirmed support for the two-state solution in accordance with international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, affirming his country’s keen on the political support of the Palestinian people as well as on the security and stability of the region.
