The Palestinian National Council (PNC) said that any steps taken by the US administration to recognize Occupied Jerusalem as an Israeli capital or to relocate its embassy to it would be “void and illegal measures,” and treated as a “wanton attack on the Palestinian people’s rights.”

In a press release on Sunday, the PNC warned that the US position on Jerusalem would torpedo any chance to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israelis.

The PNC also underlined that any move undermining the legal and political status of Jerusalem, as an occupied city, entails urgent action from the UN and its Security Council to protect and enforce its resolutions regarding the Palestinian rights in the city.

The PNC called upon the world’s parliaments, unions and free people to stand up for the Palestinian people’s just rights and reject any such US step that would lead to further chaos and instability in the Middle East.
