Malaysian Parliament Caucus for Palestine Urges Further Action Against Israel's Zionist Regime for Genocide

In a media statement released today, the Malaysian Parliament Caucus for Palestine called for immediate action in response to the ongoing crimes of genocide committed by Israel's Zionist regime. The caucus, following the Prime Minister's address in Parliament, highlighted several crucial decisions made by international bodies and urged Malaysia and the global community to take a firm stand against Israel's aggression.

One of the significant developments mentioned was the adoption of a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) during its 10th Emergency Special Session on 27 October 2023. The resolution, aimed at addressing the crisis in Gaza, called for an immediate humanitarian truce and the cessation of hostilities. The resolution received 121 affirmative votes, with Malaysia voting in favor and co-sponsoring the resolution.

The joint statement issued by the ASEAN-GCC Summit on 20 October 2023 was also highlighted. The statement condemned all attacks against civilians and called for a durable ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and efficient access for humanitarian aid. It further demanded the immediate release of civilian hostages and detainees and urged all parties involved to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The Malaysian Parliament Caucus drew attention to the extraordinary meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Executive Committee held on 18 October 2023. The committee issued a joint communiqué condemning Israel's brutal military aggression against the Palestinian people. It called for international protection for Palestinians and an end to the flagrant violations and attacks by Israeli occupation forces and extremist colonialist settlers.

Despite these international resolutions and condemnations, the caucus pointed out the continuous attacks carried out by Israel's Zionist regime. Recent incidents included an airstrike by Israeli fighter jets on the area of Tal al-Hawa in Gaza, near Al-Quds Hospital, as well as an attack by the Israel Occupation Force (IOF) on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, resulting in a power failure.

Additionally, the caucus expressed concern over the limited flow of humanitarian assistance, which has intensified the humanitarian crisis. There is also a growing possibility of war escalation with neighboring countries, as the conflict has already spread to Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and Yemen.

In response to these developments, the Malaysian Parliament Caucus for Palestine proposed several actions:

1. Summoning the ambassadors of countries that voted against the UNGA's resolution, demonstrating Malaysia's strong stance on the matter.
2. Supporting the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) request for a resolution at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) concerning Israel's aggression on civilians and its incursion into Gaza. The caucus emphasized that UNSC resolutions hold greater legal weight than those passed by the General Assembly.
3. Recommending the United Nations to prepare peacekeeping forces to intervene and halt the genocide and attacks perpetrated by Israel's Zionist regime.
4. Encouraging parliamentarians worldwide to call on their governments to abide by the UN's resolution and support the caucus's urgent appeals.
5. Urging all Malaysians, including political parties, to prioritize the issue of the humanitarian disaster and the crime of genocide committed by the Israeli regime. The caucus demanded an immediate end to extreme attacks on hospitals, children, and women, as well as the safe passage of humanitarian aid. It called for unity and solidarity in Malaysia, setting aside trivial matters and propaganda.
6. Cautioning against the use of language and narratives that may normalize Israel's actions and atrocities.

The Malaysian Parliament Caucus for Palestine's media statement serves as a rallying call for increased international efforts to address the ongoing crisis and hold Israel accountable for its actions. The caucus emphasizes the urgency of the situation and calls for unified action to protect innocent lives and bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
