Indian Parties Urge Their Government to Stop Arms Exports to Israel

The Secretary-General of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, held meetings with Indian political and parliamentary figures to urge them to take a stand against the genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip.

The Secretary-General met with opposition parties in the Indian Parliament in a joint gathering, where these parties called on their government to stop supporting the genocide in Gaza.

In a joint statement following the meeting, the parties emphasized the necessity for the Indian government to halt arms exports to Israel and not to be complicit in this genocide, reiterating their rejection of the brutal massacres committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people.

They affirmed that this war is not only a serious violation of international law and principles of justice and peace but also an affront to humanity, urging India to take immediate action to implement United Nations Security Council resolutions and ensure peace and justice for the victims of the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

The parties continued in their statement, "As India has always been a country that advocates for justice and human rights, it cannot be complicit in this genocide."

The Indian parties praised the efforts led by the League to unify and coordinate global support for the rights of the Palestinian people, especially concerning the issue of the genocide in Gaza.

The joint statement was signed by the Secretary-General of the Janata Dal K C Tyagi, Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Javed Ali Khan, Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh, party MLA Pankaj Pushkar, former Lok Sabha MP Kunwar Danish Ali of the Congress, Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha MP Mohibullah Nadvi, Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal and former MP and Rashtrawadi Samaj Party’s ex-chief Mohammed Adeeb.

Since the beginning of the Israeli genocide against the Gaza Strip, the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine has been leading a parliamentary campaign to pressure international and human rights institutions and parliaments to take a stance against the war and work to stop it.

The occupation continues to wage its war of genocide on Gaza for the 328th consecutive day, during which 40,602 Palestinians have been killed and 93,855 others injured, the majority of whom are children and women.
