The New Executive Board of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine Holds its First Meeting

The new Executive Board of the League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine held its first virtual meeting on Wednesday.

The President of the League, Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar, welcomed the Executive Committee members during the opening of the meeting, affirming that the new Board will work to complete the League's goals by taking it to an advanced stage that elevates its global standing in a way that keeps pace with the developments of the Palestinian cause, through coordinating the diverse parliamentary efforts that undertake support for the Palestinian rights at the regional and global levels.

Al-Ahmar explained that the new Board represents all continents and religious, political and ethnic orientations, reflecting the unity represented by the Palestinian cause for the free people of the world, and achieving the League's goals of reaching all the parliaments in the world.

During the meeting, the League announced its welcome of the decisions by Norway, Spain and Ireland to recognize the State of Palestine, explaining that this recognition is the fruit of the efforts of the parliamentarians, especially the efforts of the European League in enhancing the presence of the Palestinian cause in the continent and its parliaments, and confronting the false narrative of the Israeli occupation.

The new Executive Board unanimously appointed Dr. Mohamed Makram Balawi as the Secretary-General of the League.

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds and Palestine had held elections to choose its new Executive Board, on the sidelines of the Fifth Conference of the League, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, which was held in the city of Istanbul under the title "Freedom and Independence for Palestine".
