Speakers of Various Parliaments Praise LP4Q's Fifth Conference

Speakers of several parliaments praised the fifth conference of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds, titled' Freedom and Independence for Palestine,' held on Friday, April 26, 2024, in Istanbul, under the auspices of the Turkish Parliament.

The Speaker of the Jordanian Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, stated that LP4Q's fifth conference is a critical parliamentary initiative amidst dangerous times as the Palestinian people are exposed to an existential threat, adding that the conscience of many political regimes is in a deep slumber despite the genocidal war committed by the Israeli occupation state against Palestinian people.

Al-Fayez stressed, during his speech at LP4Q's conference, that the international community, parliamentary institutions, and international/legal institutions are required to play their role in ending the war of annihilation and providing relief to the Gaza Strip, calling for a more effective Arab and Islamic stance to support Gaza.

Moreover, the Head of the High Council of State, Dr. Muhammad Takala, thanked LP4Q for its parliamentary efforts in serving the Palestinian cause and highlighted its role in enhancing the issue's presence in global and international parliaments.

Takala added, "We meet today while the Palestinian people in Gaza are resisting alone and with limited capabilities, facing the most powerful criminal army. Our role now is to support them in defending themselves and putting an end to their bitter suffering," criticizing Western support for genocide in the Gaza Strip.

As for the Speaker of Yemen's parliament, Sheikh Sultan al-Barkani, he explained that the session reflects the image of Palestine in parliaments and enables a real breakthrough in the relevant organizations, calling parliamentarians to engage more in LP4Q's activities and events.

Regarding the war of extermination in Gaza, al-Barkani emphasized that the United States can save women and children because it is the exclusive owner of Israel and its supplier, from a loaf of bread to missiles/planes. Yet, it does not want to end the killing of the Palestinian people, pointing out that international conventions, human rights, and the freedom of people no longer have value in light of the United Nations Charter, which is being emptied of justice-related content and human rights protection.

At the same time, the Speaker of the Northern Cyprus Assembly, Zorlu Töre, explained that the scale of ongoing genocide waged on Gaza brings shame to humanity, but Israel is not embarrassed or ashamed, exemplifying that the United Nations and its Council no longer exist meaning the system has become corrupted and useless.

During his speech on the first day of the conference, Töre called upon taking more decisive, practical steps and punitive measures against the Israeli Occupation, hoping to go beyond statements and expressions of concern.

Furthermore, Somali Upper House Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi criticized the double standards practiced by Western countries regarding the Palestinian cause and the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, underlining that the world would have acted differently if other people than the Palestinians had experienced the same struggle.

From Morocco, the Speaker of the Moroccan Council of Advisors, Enaam Mayara, noted that the international community and parliaments should feel ashamed and remorseful due to their inability to help the Palestinian people and end the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, indicating to all attendees that conveying the voice of Palestine is a matter that falls upon us.

From Latin America, the President of the Bolivian Senate, Israel Hitari Martinez, thanked LP4Q for bringing together the free people of the world who believe in freedom for Palestine to the international parliamentary conference in light of the international community's disregard for the killing of innocents in the Gaza Strip.

Martinez emphasized that LP4Q is a vital platform that actively serves justice for the Palestinian cause within the human rights and parliamentary framework.

Today, Friday, LP4Q launched the activities of its fifth international parliamentary conference in Istanbul, titled' Freedom and Independence for Palestine,' under the auspices of the Turkish Parliament.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Prof. Numan Kurtulmuş, and over 700 parliamentarians from 80 countries, as well as official, international, and Turkish figures, are expected to attend the three-day conference.
