The League of Parliamentarians for Al Quds launched the activities of its fifth international parliamentary conference in Istanbul on Friday, under the auspices of the Turkish Parliament, titled 'Freedom and Independence for Palestine.'
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Prof. Numan Kurtulmuş, and over 700 parliamentarians from 80 countries, as well as official, international, and Turkish figures, will participate in the three-day conference.
The conference seeks to complement the achievements of the League since its establishment in light of the current popular and international strategic environment supporting the halt of aggression and genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and to strengthen the status and role of the League on the international arena, in addition to networking ideas, projects and efforts of the world's parliaments in the service of the Palestinian cause.
The conference will discuss ways to confront the genocidal war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip and its aggression on the West Bank, plans to Judaize the occupied city of Jerusalem, and the aggression against al-Aqsa Mosque.
The conference will include political and legal seminars, parliamentary dialogue sessions on the role of Palestine parliamentary committees in supporting the Palestinian cause, a parliamentary forum including speeches by the heads of parliaments and representatives of the participating delegations, and a humanitarian symposium with relief projects for the Gaza Strip.
On the sidelines of the conference, the 'Jerusalem Season' initiative will be launched, seeking to raise awareness of the dangers facing the occupied city of Jerusalem, in addition to exhibitions related to the Palestinian issue and heritage, as well as an exhibition on the ongoing genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
