Vice president of LP4Q calls for an end to global hypocrisy on the Palestinian issue

The Vice-President of the League and Chairman of the International Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in the Indonesian Parliament, MP Dr. Fadli Zon, said that there is global injustice regarding the severe collective suffering that the Palestinian people have been experiencing for nearly seven decades.

During his speech at the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Zon added, "Let us put an end to this hypocrisy and double standards. How can the world be still muted with no concrete action, in modern contemporary, we have been witnessing dire occupation for more than seven decades.

He continued, "How can we allow the continuation of the land-grabbing, expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland, and threatening them with death? Are we really citizens of a civilized world? It is unacceptable, concerning the recent finding facts by Amnesty International that showed the true extent of apartheid regime imposed against people in Gaza, East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank."

"If we do not take appropriate concrete action immediately, global stability and security will be put at risk" Zon warned. "We must prevent the dark historic recurrence when the world was totally devastated by the wars. We as global parliamentarians have to take leading roles in urging the implementation of all relevant international legal instruments agreed to fight against intolerance."

He strongly criticized the position of countries that clearly show their hypocrisy and double standards when dealing with intolerance, racial discrimination and flagrant violation practiced by the occupying power, adding, "We should not let any country to be above the international laws. We are all equal before the laws."
