LP4Q praises the decision of the South African Parliament to reduce relations with the occupation

The Director General of the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds, Dr. Mohammad Makram Balawi, praised the decision of the South African Parliament to reduce the level of diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation because of its crimes against the Palestinian people.

Balawi explained, in a statement, that these are the required positions of free parliaments around the world, stressing that the gateway to true peace passes through obligating the Israeli occupation to abide by international laws and decisions, to stop its aggression against the Palestinian people and stop practicing its colonial policies, and to abandon the apartheid system it imposes on the Palestinians.

He stressed that the use of violence, bloodshed, and disregard for the rights of the Palestinians by the Israeli occupation will fuel the spiral of reactions and make it impossible to reach any solution, calling for curbing the settler militias, not cooperating with them, and confronting their aggression against the defenseless Palestinian people.

The South African parliament voted on a draft resolution to reduce diplomatic representation with the occupying state because of its crimes against the Palestinians.

The "National Freedom" party said in a statement that the draft resolution provides for the downgrading of the South African embassy in Israel in light of the ongoing violations against the Palestinians, adding, "As citizens of South Africa, we refuse to stand idly by before the existence of apartheid again."

Six civilians were killed and 26 others were wounded during the Israeli occupation forces' raid into Jenin camp, in the occupied West Bank, on Tuesday evening.
